JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for someone to manage a really nice 20-bed nursing home. We'll consider anyone from a nursing or residential care home background, including experienced deputy managers looking for their first registered manager role.

THE OPPORTUNITY

My client acquired this nursing home just over a year ago and with it, a registered manager. Now that the manager has decided to move on, my client would like to hire someone who can help him build on the home's past success and maximise its future potential.

The home itself is a really nice, detached property and a great environment to work in. The CQC rating is Good across the board. It's a well-run home with no problems needing fixed but scope to undertake a number of interesting development projects.

For example, the catering is currently outsourced and the owner would like to bring it in-house, which will necessitate hiring a new kitchen team and working with them to refurbish the kitchen facilities.

The owner is a qualified accountant and will provide really good support with business strategy, budgeting and finance. At the same time, he is looking for someone who is interested in taking a lot of responsibility and managing the home autonomously, in their own style.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

The role might suit an experienced nurse or non-nurse manager (from either a nursing or residential care home background), who wants to work in an independently owned home where you'll enjoy more autonomy and responsibility than most group run homes provide.

Alternatively, if you have a nurse qualification and are looking for your first step up into a registered manager role, this is the kind of role (small home, good support with business matters) that would provide that opportunity.

REWARDS

A competitive remuneration package in the region of £35,000-£45,000 is on offer, dependent on skills and experience.
