We are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing UK based manufacturer who are a market leading medical device brand specialising in the Pressure Area Care, Infection Control and Harm Reduction products to healthcare providers in the UK and Internationally. Our client designs and develops high quality and cost effective medical devices with established routes to market via a UK direct sales team and a network of territory-specific distributors globally.

Blackwood, South Wales

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing new product development projects
  • Determination of user needs and product requirement specifications
  • Utilising a multi-disciplinary project team to achieve project objectives
  • A proactive approach to project management to maintain project progress
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, external clients, suppliers and consultants
  • Execute the design, product, process verification and validation requirements by the company Quality Management System (ISO 13485)
  • Preparation of technical documents such as component specifications, risk management reports and technical reports for incorporation into technical product files
  • Creating design models, drawings and prototypes in 2D and 3D CAD
  • Planning and execution of product testing strategies

Experience Preferred

The successful candidate would ideally have the following skills and attributes:

  • A high level of technical competency both analytical and practical
  • Minimum five years postgraduate industrial experience in the design and development of electrical/mechanical/ electro-mechanical medical devices
  • A logical and pragmatic approach to the product development process including the solution of technical problems with a capacity for original thinking
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to present at various levels (verbally and visually)
  • The ability to work alone and unsupervised or as part of a tightly integrated project team
  • An enthusiastic and organised approach to employment
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and PC skills (MS Office)
  • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D CAD

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or HND qualification in Medical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Integrated Engineering or similar / equivalent
