Mixed Vet Role, Caithness

A truly mixed independent practice in Caithness is looking for another Mixed Vet to join their team. Excellent equipment and a welcoming, friendly working environment.

Caithness is the northernmost county in the UK with picturesque rolling Highland moorland and beaches/coastline as far as the eye can see. Perfect for lovers of the great outdoors!

The practice has been establish for over half a century and has an excellent reputation across the region for delivering excellent care to all animals large and small.

The team consists of 17 vets in total across both sites who all have their own unique set of clinical interests. You can expect to be working with 2-3 RVNs per day plus an SVN so there is always a lot of support on hand.

Facilities-wise this practice is very well equipped with all the usual toys you would expect on the small animal side of things including digital x-ray with tableside processor, ultrasound, and even orthopaedic equipment.

On the large side, you can expect all the usual equipment one would expect with a well-established mixed practice including a hydraulic tipping plate, fertility testing equipment and a local laboratory for post-mortem examinations, along with and equine repro scanner and power float.

Key Duties

With this being a truly mixed practice you can expect to see all manner of cases, with typical work splits being 50% small, 45% farm, 5% equine.

Newer graduates can expect full support from the rest of the team to help them develop their skills and interests across all aspects of mixed practice.

For the most part you will work a 4 day week with typical hours being 8:45am - 5:30pm. You will be part of an on call rota that is 1 in 4 weekends and mid-week night per week. There will be a nurse triaging calls before notifying vets to eliminate unnecessary call outs.
