Registered Veterinary Nurse Opportunity, Chichester

New registered veterinary nurse role in Chichester, salary up to £30k depending on experience.

You will be required to provide the professional services expected of a Registered Veterinary Nurse in dealing with various cases and being responsible for nursing services and supporting clients in line with the practices aims and objectives. Your responsibilities will include confidently handling and restraining animals, providing nursing care to hospitalised patients, including patient monitoring and health checking, feeding, grooming and walking animals. You will administer treatments including injections, tablets, fluids and blood transfusions. You will be expected to perform diagnostic tests, e.g. blood sampling, urine analysis and x-rays and prepare animals for surgery along with performing some minor procedures, e.g. suturing wounds and dental hygiene. You will monitor anaesthesia, assist veterinary surgeons with operations and maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the practice. Being able to communicate with pet owners, gaining their trust and reassuring them about their animal's treatment is essential as well as educating pet owners on animal health, including vaccinations, worming, flea prevention and appropriate nutrition. The role itself is based on a 40 hour full-time contract working a 4 day week on a changeable rota and a share of weekends with other RVN's within the team.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • RCVS qualification and a minimum of two years experience as an active RVN is essential.
  • A sound knowledge of practice protocols, familiarity with veterinary terms and drugs, competency in the use of clinical computer and word processing systems and up-to-date knowledge of the clinic services and products is desirable.
