Small Animal Vet Role, Kendal, Cumbria

Brilliant opportunity for a passionate vet to join a happy, skilled small animal team in Kendal. 36 hour week, 1 in 5 weekends, great facilities and plenty of Certificate holders to learn from!

This mixed practice set in the heart of stunning countryside with the Lakes and Dales either side is looking for another passionate and friendly vet to join their team.

Although surrounded by truly breathtaking national parks and nature spots, the market town of Kendal is busy and full of culture, festivals, eateries and history.

The practice is mixed, however the small and farm animal teams operate independently so this particular role is purely SA.

The small animal facilities are of an excellent standard and both surgeries are purpose built, offering high end veterinary toys including:

Digital x-ray
Endo/bronchoscopes
Modern and well kitted out ops theatres
Comprehensive lab
Ultrasound

You'll be joining a wonderful, welcoming team of 10 small animal vets, all of which have their own areas of interest, including Certificate holders in Cardiology, Orthopaedics, AVP, and Behaviour.


Key Duties

  • This role is for companion animals only with a full time role covering 36 hours over the week alongside an equal share of the OOH rota.
  • The practice are proud to look after their own patients and clients after hours, keeping everything in house and ensuring continuity of care.
  • There are 1 in 5 weekends on call tied into a Saturday morning clinic. Weekdays on call are not intensive due to the size of the team, roughly once a fortnight.

  • In return you will receive a competitive salary of between £35,000 - £50,000 depending on your experience alongside the following benefits package:

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • Ideally you will have some confidence in routine first opinion surgeries and consultations however the team are supportive and willing to help and support where needed.
  • Further study is not essential but encouraged and fully supported should it be something you wish to pursue.
  • You must be RCVS registered.
