An excellent opportunity has arisen for a experienced Veterinary Nurse to take the next step as a Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse working within a well established Independent Small Animal Veterinary Practice in South Hertfordshire.
The position would see you working in one of the only remaining Independent Veterinary Practices in the area, established for over 25 years they have continued to grow and serve their community ever since soon becoming very well known to locals and having a fantastic client base.
As a Deputy Head Nurse you would be working alongside the Head Veterinary Nurse being a team leader and ensuring efficient running of the nurse and student teams. This will include providing management, performance reviews and training for the Veterinary team.
You will be working alongside a lovely and friendly team, the Practice Owner/ Head Veterinary Surgeon, 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 Veterinary Nurses and 2 Student Vet Nurses .
Extensive range of equipment throughout their consultation, hospitalisation and surgical facilities to include:
Digital X-ray
Dental X-ray
Endoscope
Multiparameters
Fully equipped laboratory.
Key Duties
- Open to full and part time applicants.
- Full time would see you working 40 hours per week over 5 days
- 1:4 Saturday mornings
- No out of hours.
Key duties would include:
- Being a team leader for the Nurses and Students.
- Assisting the Head Veterinary Nurse with duties
- Surgical Nursing
- Ensure essential running of the day to day practice.
Package and Benefits
- Salaries up to £32,000 per annum

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements
- Be eligible to work within the UK
- Be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Be experienced and confident with theatre and anaesthesia
- Have a keen interest in progressing your career
- Previous leadership skills advantageous but not essential.
