Small Animal Job, Preston, Lancashire

Prospect Health are proud to be working with one of the leading independent purpose-built small animal hospitals in the North West. With a 19 strong team of fellow veterinary surgeons with a good balance between experience (3 cert holders and 1 diploma holder) and newly qualified vets, you'll be joining a busy and vibrant working atmosphere with an emphasis on knowledge sharing and personal development. You'll also have the support as 18 nurses, 14 receptionist and a team of admin and practice management staff. The team is supportive, actively encourage CPD and regularly host in-house clinical evenings with guest lecturers. There is a group chat amongst the team for anyone to ask for clinical advice any time of the day and the directors provide out of hours assistance if you're ever in need of help.

The hospital itself is built to industry leading standards and is bright, modern and airy, making it conducive to high clinical standards and an enjoyable place to work. Housed within the hospital is a range of state-of-the-art facilities including, eight consult rooms (including a dedicated bereavement room), two ops theatres, a separate dental suit, imaging rooms with x-ray and diagnostic equipment, five wards, ultrasonography, digital x-ray, endoscopy, hydrotherapy and k-laser. New equipment is always being added in order to provide to most up-to-date level of care.

This position is full time with an average of a 40hr week over an 8 week period. It is a 4-day week and weekends are 2 in 8 with 1 being days and 1 being nights. There is also out of hours requirements 1 night a week. The out of hours service is for their own clients only and you will have the support of a 2nd on call vet and a night nurse. You will receive additional out-of-ours pay on top of an already competitive salary. There is also practice accommodation or housing allowance if needed, 5 days CPD funded each year, 32 days annual leave, TOIL when on call and lots of other work perks. Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be registered with the RCVS to practice in the UK
  • You must have a minimum of 12 months post graduate experience in small animal work
  • You will passionate about providing the highest level of care to your patients and their owners
  • You will enjoy working as part of a team and be driven to continue learning and progressing as a vet
