A well-renowned first opinion practice is seeking a 5 year+ experienced vet who is keen on having a clear progression plan towards a Clinical Director role and become a future shareholder. With a salary of between £50,000 and £60,000, as well as other perks, the job is perfect for a Veterinary Surgeon looking for the next step in their career.

Situated just outside of Bedford, the practice is within commutable distance of towns such as Luton, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Cambridge, and a flexible rota able to accommodate 3-day, 4-day or 5-day working week makes it the ideal scenario for vets wanting the perfect work/life balance.

The practice itself is a modern, purpose built building with a total of 7 consult rooms, 1 theatre and 5 individual wards for different species of animal. There is an on-site physiotherapist, as well as a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy suite which is run by the hydro team.

The team consists of 16 vets and 14 nurses, with a total of over 50 staff members including non-clinical staff. Alongside a wealth of experience, the practice also hold certificate holders in cardiology, exotics and various medical practices.

The role is suitable for someone who is keen to begin their progression and is eager to take a lead role within a practice. The practice is looking for someone who can help mentor the more junior colleagues, offering advice and guidance to nurture them. The candidate is expected to take a hands-on approach and contribute to practice meetings and help develop the business.

Key Duties

• Actively contribute to practice meetings
• Mentor junior colleagues (VetGDP Advisor), including participation in performance reviews and future recruitment
• Be involved in protocol development
• Contribute to business development and progression
• Be fair and consistent

Package and Benefits

• Starting Salary of between £50,000 and £60,000 per annum
• 28 days annual leave, rising by 1 day per 2 full calender years of service

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

• 5+ years qualified
• RCVS Registered
• Be keen to develop and progress their general practitioner small animal skills
• Be enthusiastic about supporting team development and the mentoring of new grad/junior vets
• Have natural warmth and empathy, and get a genuine sense of satisfaction from helping others
• Be self-motivated and dedicated but have fun too
• Want to provide a high standard of veterinary care
