A long-standing, forward thinking, independent small animal practice seeks a skilled Veterinary Surgeon, offering a salary up to £80,000.
An independent small animal practice which has just opened a brand-new 24/7 Hospital is looking for a dedicated and skilled veterinary surgeon to join their team of thirteen experienced vets, including multiple certificate holders, RVNs, and SVNs.
The successful candidate will enjoy working with a large and diverse caseload which provides an excellent environment for professional development, including the potential for working towards and completing a certificate which the practice will actively encourage.
You will also get to work with state-of-the-art equipment to deliver the highest quality of care, including digital x-ray machines, separate dental x-ray facilities, a colour doppler ultrasound machine, endoscopy tools such as rigid and flexible bronchoscopes and gastroscopes, and a full ASIF orthopedic kit, securos locking plate system, and traumadrive drill set. Laboratory services are conveniently provided in-house with Idexx equipment, including Procyte, Catalyst, Snapshot, and a microscope. Additionally, they have a same-day courier service for external samples sent to Idexx.
Key Duties
- Full-time and part-time candidates will be considered.
- Full-time involves a 4-day work week, with a fixed day off.
- Two mornings dedicated towards surgery.
- At 19:00 phone calls are diverted to VetsNow
- Being on-duty one weeknight every other week (Monday to Thursday)
- Working 2 in 8 weekends (Saturday and Sunday):
- One weekend as first on call. This involves Saturday morning and afternoon surgery, followed by covering in-patient care until Monday morning. Sunday is only for urgent and emergency cases.
- The other weekend is as second on call, which involves Friday night inpatient care and consultations until 13:00 on Saturday.
Package and Benefits
- Salary up to £80,000 Depending on Experience.
- Out of Hour Payments: £80 per weeknight, and £250 for a weekend (full-time vets can make an additional £5-6,000 per year).
- 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays.
- CPD has a token budget of £2,000 but this is frequently exceeded.
- Professional membership fees are covered.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements
- RCVS qualified.
- Excellent communication skills.
