Key Details:

  • Salary: £11,500 per session depending on experience and responsibilities.
  • Contract Type: GMS
  • Indemnity: Provided through a group scheme with the MDU.
  • Holiday: 6 weeks per year, plus 1 week study leave.
  • NHS Pension: Yes
  • Sessions: 6-8 sessions per week.
  • Location: Two modern, purpose-built sites in Torquay, with on-site parking.

About:

  • Patient List Size: 20,000 patients, predominantly elderly due to the area being a popular retirement location.
  • Team Size: The practice consists of 13 GPs, along with 6 Nurses, 2 Pharmacists, and other clinical support staff.
  • Building Facilities: Newly renovated, purpose-built sites with modern infrastructure and on-site parking across two locations.
  • Training Practice: They are an established training practice, affiliated with Plymouth University, and they train GPs, medical students, nurses, paramedics, and overseas doctors.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Work: Each session involves around 16-17 patient consultations (a mix of face-to-face and telephone consultations).
  • Duty Doctor: A 1 in 4 rota, where salaried GPs work a duty day per week
  • Admin Time: Protected admin time is included, and the practice offers flexibility in terms of workload management.

What They are Looking For:

  • GMC-registered GP (or those awaiting registration) with a passion for patient care.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to reducing GP burnout.
  • Full UK driving license would be ideal (required for travel between clinics).
  • Newly-qualified GPs are welcome to apply.
  • Interest in innovative practices, including the possibility of offering private work such as joint injections (not mandatory but a plus).
