An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established practice on the beautiful island of Guernsey, with the chance to play a key role in the development of a brand-new veterinary hospital opening in late 2026.

The Practice

The practice has become an integral part of the island community, providing high-quality first opinion care with both small animal and equine services. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, an exciting new hospital is currently under construction, representing a major investment in veterinary care on the island.

The new hospital will feature advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including:

• CT scanner
• MRI
• Modern diagnostic imaging suite
• Comprehensive in-house laboratory
• Advanced surgical facilities
• Continued investment in new equipment as clinical needs evolve

The team currently consists of:

• 8+ Veterinary Surgeons
• 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses
• Veterinary Care Assistants
• Dedicated Hydrotherapist
• Experienced support staff committed to delivering exceptional patient care

The practice prides itself on maintaining a collaborative, family-oriented culture where everyone supports one another both professionally and personally. Staff retention is excellent, and the leadership team actively encourages career progression, clinical development and individual interests.

The Role

Applications are welcomed from experienced Veterinary Surgeons with three or more years' UK experience.

Whilst the ideal candidate will enjoy both small animal and equine work (approximately a 75:25 split), applications are also welcomed from experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeons or Equine only Vets.

The practice offers genuine flexibility around working patterns, with roles tailored wherever possible to suit the successful applicant.

Typical full-time rota includes:

• Four-day working week (40 hours)
• 8:00am - 6:30pm
• Protected lunch break plus additional breaks throughout the day
• 1 in 3 (typically 1 in 4) Saturday rota with time off in lieu
• Shared weekend on-call rota with generous time off before and after
• Minimal sole charge responsibilities
• Flexibility to tailor the balance of consultations and surgery around individual interests
