An independent, first-opinion small animal practice in London is seeking a confident and self-sufficient Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team. This role has arisen due to a long-serving vet relocating, giving you the opportunity to step into an established caseload with excellent client relationships already in place.

  • Full-time role averaging 37 hours across four days per week
  • One in four Saturday mornings (9:00 - 13:00, consults only)

Key Duties

  • Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care for small animals
  • Conduct consultations, routine surgeries, dental procedures, and ultrasonography
  • Work independently and take sole charge as required on Saturdays
  • Collaborate with visiting specialists in cardiology, orthopaedics, and advanced imaging
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and uphold high standards of patient care

Working Pattern

  • Full-time: four days per week, averaging 37 hours
  • Two days focused on consultations, two days combining consults, discharges, and surgeries
  • Standard 20-minute appointments
  • One in four Saturday mornings (consults only)
  • No out-of-hours or bank holiday responsibilities

Practice Facilities

  • Modern first-opinion small animal practice
  • Three vets (two on duty at any time) supported by seven experienced nurses and support staff
  • High volume of dental procedures with DR digital X-ray, dental machines, and ultrasound
  • Visiting specialists available for cardiology, orthopaedics, and advanced imaging
  • Convenient parking available for staff

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in small animal practice
  • Confident performing surgery, dentistry, and ultrasonography
  • Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
