New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon Role, Newcastle

Established over 100 years ago, this multi-site mixed practice offers an excellent standard of care to the animals of the North East.

They are searching for a newly qualified vet to join them in a well-supported mixed role (predominantly small animal) with lots of in house CPD.

Their existing team vets have a wealth of experience behind them, making this role a great opportunity to learn and develop. The practice are always taking feedback on board from staff to constantly evolve the workplace to be the best it can be!

You will benefit from a a practice that has invested in excellent facilities, well-equipped to handle the vast majority of first opinion cases including ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG, in house lag, digital radiography, dental equipment.

Key Duties

  • This is for a mixed vet role however the case load is heavily weighted towards small animals. The practice has roughly 85% small, 10% equine, and 5% farm.
  • A full time role is for five days a week (with the option to reduce to four days after a year).
  • You will be part of a fairly shared OOH rota of one night per week, and 1 in 6 weekends on call/1 in 3 Saturday mornings.
  • After a weekend on call you would have no night on call the following week as well as a Friday or Monday off to make a long weekend.
  • You will be fully supported by more experienced vets with your on call work.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • You must be a registered Veterinary Surgeon eligible to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience is not necessary given the support on offer.
  • The practice are looking for an enthusiastic new graduate, keen to learn and develop within a friendly team.
  • Driving license would be required for this role given the OOH.
