Anoush and Dhruvi’s move from Newcastle to Queensland.
Their story of finding new Dentist jobs in Australia

If you’re looking to make the move to Australia to practice as a dentist, follow the journey made by Anoush and Dhruvi, who recently moved from Gateshead, Newcastle, to beautiful Douglas, Queensland, to practice as Dentists.

Anoush and Dhruvi - finding new Dentist jobs in Australia

Anoush contacted us via LinkedIn, and Frances quickly set up a Teams meeting with them so they could connect virtually and begin discussing the relocation process, available roles in Australia, and the types of clients we typically collaborate with.

Why were Anoush and Dhruvi looking to relocate as dentists to Australia?

Being early in their dental careers, which they began in the UK, Anoush and Dhruvi were eager for a fresh start and a new adventure. Before settling down, getting married, starting a family, and buying that dream home with the white picket fence and perhaps a labradoodle, they wanted to explore what the world had to offer. Australia had always appealed to them, not just for its sunny climate, a stark contrast to the often-gloomy UK weather, but also for the quality of life and the strong earning potential for dental professionals. Their goal was to build a future in Australia where they can advance their careers and begin establishing long-term roots in a place that offers both personal and professional growth.

How did Prospect Health and Frances help them through the process to look for a new dentist role in Australia?

Anoush and Dhruvi hadn’t formally started the relocation process before reaching out, but they had been considering the move for some time. Like many UK-based dentists exploring the idea of working in Australia, Anoush and Dhruvi were unsure about where to begin and what the full process entailed. That’s where Frances was able to step in and provide guidance. From the initial conversation, it was clear they needed support navigating the complexities of relocating as dental professionals, from understanding registration and visa requirements to knowing which clinics and locations would best suit their professional goals and lifestyle. Frances helped break down each stage of the process, connected them with suitable clients, arranged interviews, and supported them through the offer and acceptance phase. By providing that end-to-end support, they felt confident in their decision and were able to transition smoothly toward their new lives and careers in Australia.

What were the main challenges Anoush and Dhruvi encountered with the move to Australia as Dentists?

One of the main challenges Anoush and Dhruvi faced (and we believe this will be so for many dentists) was understanding and managing the regulatory and administrative requirements of relocating as qualified dentists from the UK to Australia. The process can be quite complex, especially when it comes to AHPRA registration, visa pathways, and aligning start dates with the needs of both the candidates and the clinics. Another key challenge was timing. Since both were still practising in the UK and planning their future together, it was crucial to coordinate everything in a way that didn’t disrupt their personal plans or professional momentum. We helped by providing clear guidance from the outset. I walked them through the entire relocation process step-by-step and coordinated introductions with clinics that were not only aligned with their career goals but also flexible with start dates. Additionally, I arranged for both candidates to meet potential employers in person during their visit to Australia, which helped build trust and confidence on both sides. This personal touch made a big difference in helping Anoush and Dhruvi feel secure in their decision and ultimately led to them accepting an offer they were both excited about.

How long did the process take?

After the first conversation in January ’25, both Anoush and Dhruvi started their first roles in September ‘25, so in total the process was just over 8 months.

How much did the move to Australia as Dentists cost?

The practice Anoush and Dhruvi moved to gave them $12,000 to use towards relocation

They went over to Australia on a 482 sponsored visa, which their new employer paid for. They will also need to find money towards…

  • Flights
  • APHRA Registration
  • Indemnity Insurance

What have the benefits been of making the move as Dentists to Australia for Anoush and Dhruvi?

As a young couple starting out their dental career in Australia, they will both be able to enjoy and benefit from a more relaxed way of life and strong focus on maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal time. Dentists relocating from the UK often discover that they can thrive professionally without facing the long hours and high stress levels often associated with NHS roles in the UK. Since private practice is the dominant model in Australia, the earning potential is considerably higher. They will typically benefit from better pay, access to state-of-the-art technology, and strong clinical support teams. The sunny climate, love for the outdoors, beautiful regional small towns and dynamic urban centres are a big draw for many UK-based dentists. With a strong education system, low crime rates, and a focus on health and quality of life, it’s an attractive destination for couples, such as Anoush and Dhruvi planning their future. And while relocating internationally can seem daunting, the transition for UK dentists tends to be quite smooth. The shared language, similar work ethics, and comparable healthcare standards help make the adjustment to both work and life in Australia relatively seamless.
