Veterinary Surgeon

I'm working with a lovely, well-equipped first opinion practice near Thetford seeking a small animal vet to join their friendly, supportive team. 4 or 5 days/week, 1 in 6 Saturday mornings, exciting caseload and salary up to £60,000!

This practice based just outside of Thetford has been providing outstanding veterinary services to the people and pets of Norfolk for over a century.

Now, the practice boasts an excellent array of equipment for a first opinion including a brand new ultrasound with four probes, digital radiography, endoscope, comprehensive in house lab, facilities for 24 hour on site care, separate cat and dog wards, dental suite, isolation facilities and surgical kit for the majority of first opinion procedures.

The team is made up of seven smallies vets (with several Advanced Practitioners) with a wide ranging set of interests including cardiology, exotics, imaging, critical care, and surgery.

  • You will be exposed to a varied and exciting caseload, with plenty of complex cases to get involved with. Personal clinical interests are very much encouraged and supported.
  • Weekends are on a rota basis of 1 in 6 Saturday mornings. As the practice keeps inpatients, there is a rota to do checks til round 8pm. Appointments are a desirable 20 minutes.

  • Salary of £35,000 - £60,000 depending on experience

  • 6.6 weeks holiday with buy and sell scheme
  • Private health care scheme
  • Company pension
  • Visa support
  • Staff discount

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

  • Ideally you will have at least one year of experience in first opinion practice, however full support will be given to bring you up to speed on areas you're not as confident in.
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK and be registered with the RCVS.
