Veterinary Surgeon Small Animal & Exotics Norfolk

An independent, family-run small animal and exotics veterinary practice based in Norfolk are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced team. Since opening a purpose-built facility in 2014, the practice has grown from a 2-vet operation to a thriving team of 5 day vets, 4 night vets, 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, and a strong support staff.

The caseload is diverse, with approximately 40% dogs, 30% cats, and 30% exotics (rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, and occasional zoo work). The practice is well-equipped with referral-level facilities and maintains a strong commitment to patient care, staff wellbeing, and continuous development.

Key Duties

  • Provide clinical care to a wide variety of species, including dogs, cats, and exotic animals
  • Perform consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures as appropriate
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including certificate holders in exotics and cardiology
  • Participate in daily planning and case handovers (protected time scheduled)
  • Option to develop a clinical interest or certificate with full support and funding
  • No night duties all out-of-hours are covered by a dedicated night team

Package and Benefits

  • Salary between £35,000 and £75,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • MRCVS-qualified Veterinary Surgeon (must be eligible for RCVS registration)
  • Post-graduate experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and client care skills
  • Interest in exotic animal care welcomed but not required full training provided
  • Team player with a positive and collaborative approach
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and development
