Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

Are you looking for a supportive, close-knit team in a genuinely caring environment? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and progressive small animal practice with big plans and a strong focus on work-life balance.

We're seeking a Small Animal Vet to join our growing team in our independently owned, RCVS-accredited first opinion practice. The role offers a great mix of surgery and consulting, with at least one or two full surgical days per week.

The Role

  • 15-minute consults, 30 mins for complex cases
  • Dedicated ops sessions starting from 9am
  • Supportive daily morning huddles & protected weekly vet meetings
  • No out-of-hours, only Saturday mornings (9am-12pm) on a fair rota
  • 4-day week

We're a fast-paced practice with a steady surgical caseload, a loyal and growing client base, and a strong nursing team that eases the pressure on our vets.

Who We're Looking For

We're open-minded and more focused on team fit and client care than years of experience. Ideally, you will be:

  • A team player with strong communication skills
  • Passionate about high-quality client care
  • Open to career development (we're happy to support certificates)
  • Keen interest in orthopaedics? We'd love to hear from you - high client demand!

Why Join Us?

  • Independent, single-site practice
  • Recently refurbished
  • Cat-friendly waiting and consult rooms
  • Modern equipment: digital & dental x-ray, ultrasound, keyhole surgery, ECG, in-house lab, multiparameter monitoring
  • Brilliant RVN team - highly experienced and well-utilised
  • Head Vet/Owner (20 years qualified) and a dedicated team of 4 vets , 9 nurses, and experienced client care team
  • True work-life balance - flexible working options, family-friendly approach

The Package

  • Salary: Up to £60K+, depending on experience (higher for ortho experience)
  • Holiday: 5.5 weeks including bank holidays, increasing with service
  • CPD: No fixed budget - tailored to your interests and benefit to the practice
  • Pension scheme
  • Paid overtime or TOIL for Saturday work
  • Flexible working arrangements considered
