Pharmacist

Pharmacist, Tauranga, New Zealand
Coastal City Living, Leadership & Ownership Pathway, High-Quality Practice

We are working with a progressive and expanding community pharmacy group to recruit a Pharmacist for a well-established, high-performing pharmacy in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.

This role suits pharmacists who want to combine strong clinical practice, long-term career progression, and the option to move into ownership, all while living in one of New Zealand's most desirable coastal cities.

Why Choose Tauranga?
Tauranga offers a rare combination of city-level opportunity and holiday-style living.
  • Coastal lifestyle with beaches, harbour access, and outdoor activities year-round
  • Mild climate and high sunshine hours
  • Strong population growth driving healthcare demand
  • Excellent schooling, healthcare, and family infrastructure
  • More affordable housing than Auckland, with better lifestyle balance
  • Easy domestic flights and road access to Auckland
  • Many overseas pharmacists choose Tauranga for its pace of life, safety, and ability to build a future, not just a job.

About the Pharmacy Environment
You'll join a large, well-resourced community pharmacy operating at scale, delivering free prescriptions alongside an expanding range of clinical services such as:
  • Vaccinations and immunisation services
  • Emergency contraception and minor ailment consultations
  • UTI services and community healthcare initiatives
The pharmacy operates with modern dispensing automation, robust technician support, and multiple pharmacists on shift, allowing a sustainable workload and high standards of patient care.

Your Career: Beyond the Dispensary
This organisation takes a long-term view of pharmacist careers.
Opportunities exist to progress into:
  • Pharmacist in Charge and store leadership roles
  • Regional or clinical support positions
  • Managing Partner / Co-Owner roles, supported by structured financial and banking partnerships
For pharmacists who feel capped in their current market, this offers a clear pathway to equity and asset ownership, not just incremental pay increases.

Relocation, Registration & Financial Support
Comprehensive support is provided for international pharmacists relocating to New Zealand:
  • New Zealand Pharmacy Council clinical exam and registration support
  • Supervised practice on arrival (often 48 weeks, depending on experience)
  • Supervised pay rate of NZD $45 per hour
  • Post-registration rates increase, with high performers commencing above NZD $50.88 per hour
  • NZD $10,000 relocation allowance (taxed locally)
  • Professional costs covered, including APC registration fees and insurance reimbursements
  • Community pharmacists are included on New Zealand's Green List, assisting with residency and visa pathways.

Thinking About Salary?
We recommend candidates avoid direct NZD-to-GBP comparisons.
The overall value comes from housing access, lifestyle quality, healthcare, safety, and ownership opportunities, which together create a far stronger long-term outcome.

  • This Role Would Suit
  • UK, Irish, or international pharmacists planning relocation
  • NZ-registered pharmacists looking for scale, structure, and progression
  • Pharmacists seeking coastal living without career compromise

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Tauranga continues to experience strong population and healthcare growth. Expansion plans are in place, but skilled pharmacists are the critical factor. This role offers the chance to join a business with momentum, support, and a clearly defined future.

To find out more, hit apply and the team will be in touch to chat to you about your options to move to New Zealand as a Pharmacist.
