Small Animal Vet Surgeon

Join a truly independent, family-owned veterinary practice where clinical freedom, exceptional client relationships, and genuine work-life balance are still at the heart of the profession.

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded independent practice known for its exceptional standards of patient care, loyal client relationships, and supportive team culture.

This role would suit a confident vet with 1+ years' experience who enjoys building long-term relationships with clients just as much as the clinical side of practice. The team places huge value on continuity of care, with clients consistently seeing the same vet and developing genuine trust over the lifetime of their pets.

The practice itself is beautifully designed, exceptionally well equipped, and offers an environment where vets are encouraged to work cases up properly, make independent clinical decisions, and focus on delivering outstanding care, without corporate targets or unnecessary pressures.

You'll be joining a close-knit and friendly team of experienced vets and nurses within a family-owned practice that genuinely prioritises its people and patients alike. The culture is collaborative, down-to-earth, and community focused, with strong relationships built locally through both client care and charity partnerships.

The position offers a varied and rewarding caseload with excellent clinical support and facilities including digital DR radiography, dental imaging, ultrasound, laparoscopy, dedicated cat and dog wards, and a nurse training centre. Each vet benefits from their own personalised consult room, longer consultation times, and the autonomy to manage cases in the way they feel is best.

The working pattern is designed to support a healthy work-life balance, with flexibility around four or five days per week, a light weekend rota, and no out-of-hours, on-call, or bank holiday commitments.

The package on offer is highly competitive and includes:

  • Salary of £50,000-£80,000 depending on experience
  • Performance-related bonus structure with guaranteed first-year bonus
  • Relocation support
  • Private healthcare and pension
  • Generous CPD and certificate funding
  • Paid professional memberships
  • Childcare support
  • Five weeks' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Discounted pet care
  • Regular team social events and genuine long-term career progression opportunities

The team is looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, enjoys the consulting aspect of veterinary work as much as diagnostics and treatment, and values being part of a supportive and collaborative environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a vet seeking a long-term position within an independent practice where clinical freedom, client relationships, and team culture are still at the heart of the profession.
