Veterinary Surgeon

Looking for the autonomy of a community practice without sacrificing the support and clinical expertise of a larger hospital? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We're working with a highly established, RCVS-accredited veterinary group in East Sussex that is looking to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys the variety of first opinion practice but would also value access to the facilities, expertise and support of a larger hospital environment.

The Role

The position offers a varied week split between a community-based branch practice and a nearby central hospital, giving you the best of both worlds.

At the branch, you'll enjoy a high degree of autonomy, building strong relationships with clients and managing your own caseload, while having access to a much larger clinical team whenever additional support or expertise is required.

The role includes:

  • Consulting and routine operations
  • Working in sole charge at the branch, supported by experienced RVNs and a receptionist
  • Every other Saturday morning
  • A 1:15 second on-call rota supporting the dedicated night and weekend team
  • Excellent access to wider clinical expertise and hospital facilities
  • A strong balance between autonomy and collaborative working
  • Clinical Support

The central hospital is home to a large team of experienced day and night vets, supported by a substantial RVN and nursing team.

The team includes certificate holders and experienced clinicians across areas including:
  • ECC
  • Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Imaging
  • Exotics
  • Oncology

There are also visiting specialists in ophthalmology and orthopaedics, providing an excellent level of clinical support when required.

About You

We're looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon with excellent communication skills who enjoys a varied caseload and building strong client relationships.

You should be comfortable working independently and ideally have some experience of sole-charge practice, although the role would also suit an ambitious vet looking to develop their confidence and clinical autonomy.

Most importantly, you'll be joining a friendly team that places a strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development and maintaining a positive working environment.

The Area

The practices are based in a beautiful part of East Sussex, offering easy access to the South Downs, countryside and coastline, alongside vibrant towns and cities with excellent amenities.

The area also benefits from strong transport links, including direct rail connections to London and easy access to Gatwick Airport.

If you're looking for a varied veterinary role offering genuine autonomy, excellent clinical support and a great work-life balance, we'd love to hear from you.

Get in touch for a confidential discussion and further details about the opportunity.
