Night Veterinary Surgeon

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-equipped 24-hour small animal hospital in the Oldbury area. This permanent position offers an attractive work-life balance with a fixed four-night working week, making it ideal for an experienced clinician who enjoys emergency and out-of-hours work while benefiting from regular time off.

Working in a sole-charge capacity, you'll be supported throughout each shift by an experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurse, allowing you to provide high-quality emergency and inpatient care within a supportive and well-equipped hospital environment.

Key Duties

  • Provide high-quality emergency and out-of-hours veterinary care
  • Manage emergency consultations, diagnostics and treatment plans
  • Monitor and care for hospitalised inpatients overnight
  • Perform emergency surgical procedures where required
  • Work confidently in a sole-charge environment with the support of an experienced Night RVN
  • Maintain excellent clinical standards and patient care throughout each shift

Working Pattern

  • Permanent position
  • Monday to Thursday
  • 8:00pm - 8:00am
  • Fixed rota offering 4 nights on, 3 nights off

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Previous experience in emergency or out-of-hours practice preferred
  • Confident working independently in a sole-charge environment
  • Strong emergency medicine and surgical skills
  • Excellent communication and decision-making abilities
  • Passion for delivering outstanding patient and client care
