A unique opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join an innovative mobile small animal practice operating close to Derby. This role is perfect for a vet looking to step away from the traditional clinic setting and enjoy a more flexible, varied working day out on the road.

This position offers a refreshing alternative to practice-based work, allowing you to build stronger client relationships through home visits, while enjoying greater autonomy and a more relaxed pace of work.

Key Duties

  • Deliver high-quality veterinary care through home visits
  • Build strong relationships with clients and their pets in a more relaxed environment
  • Work alongside a qualified nurse or veterinary care assistant
  • Carry out approximately 10 appointments per day
  • Optional opportunity to undertake surgical procedures in a dedicated operating facility

Working Pattern

  • Flexible hours to suit individual needs (15 - 40 hours per week)
  • No evening or bank holiday commitments
  • Fully adaptable rota, with the option to adjust hours week by week
  • This role offers exceptional work-life balance, ideal for those seeking flexibility without compromising on clinical standards.

Practice Facilities

  • Fully equipped, converted mobile veterinary vehicles with all necessary tools and equipment
  • Support from a trained nurse or assistant on visits
  • Access to a dedicated operating facility for surgical procedures if desired
  • Daily routes planned across a local catchment area

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Full UK driving licence (standard licence sufficient)
  • Confident in small animal consultations and general practice
  • Comfortable working independently in a mobile setting
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
