An excellent opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal clinic in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, in a consulting-focused role.

This position is ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys consultations and preventative care, offering the chance to work within a supportive team while delivering high-quality veterinary services to a diverse client base.

About the Practice

The clinic is a modern, well-equipped small animal facility designed to support a wide range of medical and surgical cases, with a strong emphasis on high standards of patient care.

Facilities include:

  • 5 consultation rooms
  • Two fully equipped operating theatres
  • Dedicated dental suite
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • Modern diagnostic and surgical equipment

The practice manages a broad and varied caseload, including both routine and more complex medical and surgical cases. Additional clinical expertise is available on-site, including orthopaedic support, enhancing both patient care and professional development opportunities.

The Role

This is a consulting-focused position, ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys client interaction and preventative healthcare.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality consultations and vaccinations
  • Managing a variety of medical cases
  • Providing clear and empathetic communication to clients
  • Working closely with the nursing and support team
  • Contributing to ongoing patient care and case management

This role offers the opportunity to focus on consulting and medical case continuity, within a well-supported clinical setting.

Working Pattern

  • Part-time 20 hours per week
  • 4-day working week
  • 2 in 9 Saturdays (with time off in lieu)

This structured rota supports a flexible and balanced working lifestyle.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
  • Be RCVS registered (or eligible)
  • Be confident with consultations and routine medical cases
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work well within a team-focused environment
  • Have a proactive and compassionate approach to patient care

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary £40,000 £55,000 (pro-rata, DOE)
