A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal practice in the Wigan area. This role is ideal for a vet who enjoys working within a collaborative team environment, values high clinical standards, and is looking for flexibility alongside a varied caseload.

Key Duties

  • Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care
  • Conduct consultations and routine surgical procedures
  • Manage a varied small animal caseload
  • Work closely with an experienced nursing and support team
  • Build strong client relationships and maintain excellent patient care standards
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of clinical protocols and team collaboration

Working Pattern

  • Flexible working structure tailored to individual preferences
  • Participation in a 1 in 5 Saturday rota (9:00am - 3:00pm) preferred
  • 20-30 minute consultation times as standard
  • Dedicated admin time built into the diary to support efficient case management and timely finishes

This structure provides excellent work-life balance while maintaining exposure to an interesting and varied caseload.

Practice Facilities

  • Modern, well-equipped small animal practice
  • Team of 5 Veterinary Surgeons, 8 RVNs, VCAs, and dedicated reception staff
  • Experienced nursing team including advanced diploma-qualified nurses and certificate holders in anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, and feline nursing
  • Nurse-led consultations and strong support systems throughout the practice
  • Focus on evidence-based medicine and high clinical standards

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Previous experience in small animal practice preferred
  • Confident communicator with a team-focused attitude
  • Passion for delivering high standards of patient and client care
  • Interest in clinical development and collaborative working
