Veterinary Surgeon Small Animal Clinic

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 2 years' experience to join a busy and well-equipped small animal clinic based in Birkenhead, Merseyside.

This role offers the chance to work within a supportive team environment while managing a diverse and rewarding caseload, primarily involving sick and injured pets. About the Practice

The clinic is a modern, well-equipped veterinary facility designed to support a wide range of medical and surgical cases. The practice prides itself on providing accessible veterinary care while maintaining strong clinical standards and a patient-focused approach.

Facilities include:

• 7 consultation rooms
• Two fully equipped operating theatres
• Digital X-ray suite
• Dedicated dog and cat wards
• Cat-friendly clinic accreditation
• Advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment

The clinic sees a broad and varied caseload, including both routine and complex cases, ranging from orthopaedic conditions to challenging medical cases. The facilities also support the development of advanced services such as cardiac imaging and diagnostics.

The Team

You will join a collaborative and supportive veterinary team where every team member plays an important role in delivering high-quality patient care.

The Role

This position would suit a Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years' clinical experience who enjoys working in a busy practice environment with a varied caseload.

The role offers opportunities to:

• Manage a diverse caseload of medical and surgical cases
• Deliver high-quality consultations and treatment plans
• Perform routine surgical procedures
• Work closely with the wider veterinary and nursing team
• Continue developing clinical skills and professional interests

Veterinary surgeons are supported in developing areas of special interest and advanced clinical skills where desired.

Working Pattern

• 38 hours per week
• 4-day working week
• 2 in 9 Saturday rota

This structured rota allows for a balanced workload and sustainable working pattern.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
• Be RCVS registered (or eligible to register)
• Have at least 2 years of experience in small animal practice
• Be confident with consultations and routine surgery
• Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
• Show enthusiasm for clinical development and learning

• Salary £40,000 - £68,675 depending on experience
