Veterinary Surgeon

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a progressive first-opinion practice in the Corby area. This role would suit a vet with at least 2 years' experience who is looking for a supportive environment, clinical autonomy, and the opportunity to progress into a Lead Vet position.

The practice is going through an exciting period of growth, with plans to expand the veterinary team and continue developing its clinical offering. Key Duties

  • Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care to a varied small animal caseload
  • Manage routine consultations, diagnostics and medical cases
  • Undertake routine surgical procedures appropriate to your experience
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and provide clear, compassionate communication
  • Work collaboratively with the existing veterinary and nursing team
  • Contribute ideas and support the continued development of clinical standards within the practice
  • Take on additional leadership responsibilities as your experience and interest develops
  • Work confidently with a degree of sole-charge responsibility, particularly during weekend shifts

Working Pattern

  • Minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Full-time and part-time options available
  • Flexible approach to working arrangements
  • Saturday rota of approximately 1 in 3
  • Saturday shifts currently run from 9:00am - 6:00pm
  • No Sunday working
  • No out-of-hours rota

The practice is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 7:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am - 6:00pm, with the exact working pattern open to discussion depending on your requirements.

Practice Facilities

  • Established first-opinion small animal practice

  • Currently working alongside an experienced veterinary nurse team
  • Four RVNs within the practice
  • Existing veterinary team includes an experienced practice owner and an 18-month qualified Veterinary Surgeon
  • 15-minute standard consultations
  • Good scope to develop the clinical offering as the practice grows
  • Convenient onsite parking

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent veterinary qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration or eligibility to register
  • Minimum of 2 years' small animal veterinary experience
  • Confident working across routine medical and surgical cases
  • Comfortable with a degree of sole-charge responsibility
  • Strong communication and client-care skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach
  • Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care
  • Ambitious and interested in contributing to the development of a growing practice
  • Leadership experience is advantageous but not essential
