About the Hospital

We are working with an outstanding Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic in Barnsley, offering comprehensive 24/7 care with a dedicated on-site team. Established in 2002, the hospital has developed into a true centre of excellence, equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology including a CT scanner, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and ultrasound.

The hospital provides an extensive range of services such as neurosurgery, orthopaedics, minimally invasive procedures, stem cell therapy, chemotherapy, and a high-quality first-opinion service. Their commitment to clinical excellence is reflected in their multiple RCVS awards.

The Team

The hospital's team includes:

• 15 Veterinary Surgeons (including an in-house out-of-hours team)
• 24 Registered Veterinary Nurses
• 3 Student Veterinary Nurses
• 5 Animal Care Assistants
• A highly experienced non-clinical support team

They work collaboratively across both general practice and referral caseloads, ensuring seamless continuity of care for every patient.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon, suitable for either newly qualified or experienced clinicians, to join the hospital's first-opinion day team.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be confident with routine medical and surgical cases
• Enjoy managing a varied caseload and working cases up to a high standard
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and a commitment to exceptional patient care
• Working Pattern
• This is a full-time role averaging 41.5 hours per week, typically structured as three weekdays plus alternate weekends (averaging a four-day working week).
