Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, Swansea


We are recruiting a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independent practice in Swansea.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced vet who enjoys working within a close-knit, well-supported team and values good clinical standards, modern facilities, and a healthy work-life balance.

You'll be joining a friendly, experienced group of clinicians and nurses who prioritise collaboration, efficiency, and patient care.

The Role

  • Small animal, first-opinion position
  • Ideally suited to a vet with 2+ years' experience
  • Full-time role: 38.5 hours per week
  • 4 day working week (Tuesday is a fixed working day)
  • Working hours: 8:00-18:15 with a 1-hour lunch break
  • 15-minute consultations with regular breaks built into the day
  • Surgery: 1-2 mornings per week, with the option to focus on consults if preferred
  • Weekend rota: 1 in 3 Saturdays (8:00-13:30)
  • No Sundays, no bank holidays
  • No out-of-hours (covered externally)
  • Minimal sole charge only on Saturdays, fully supported by nursing and reception staff
  • The practice is well known for excellent time management, vets leave on time, and workloads are carefully managed.

The Practice

This is a well-equipped, independent small animal practice with a strong ethos of keeping cases in-house wherever possible.
Facilities include:
  • Digital X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • In-house laboratory
  • Dental X-ray
  • Endoscopy
  • Orthopaedic equipment

The building is spacious and characterful, offering:
  • 4 consultation rooms
  • Separate dog and cat waiting areas
  • Dedicated diagnostic and X-ray rooms
  • Prep room
  • On-site parking

You'll be supported by:
  • A solid veterinary team, including a dental certificate holder
  • 5 qualified nurses running nurse clinics
  • 2 student nurses
  • 4 reception team members, ensuring excellent front-of-house support
