An exciting opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a progressive and forward-thinking small animal practice in West Yorkshire.

About the Practice

This is a locally run, standalone small animal practice currently undergoing an exciting period of modernisation and development, including upgrades to facilities and equipment.

Recent and ongoing improvements include:

  • New ultrasound equipment
  • Upgraded surgical theatre facilities
  • Refurbished staff areas, including a fully stocked kitchen
  • Continued investment in modern clinical equipment

The practice is committed to delivering high-quality care while also creating a supportive and enjoyable working environment for its team.

The Team

You will be joining a friendly and collaborative team including:

  • 2 Veterinary Surgeons, including a Lead Vet with a dermatology certificate
  • An experienced and supportive nursing team
  • Dedicated support staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

The Role

This is a varied position offering a balance of consultations and surgery, with the flexibility to tailor your day and develop your own clinical interests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a mix of consultations and routine surgeries
  • Delivering high standards of patient and client care
  • Supporting case continuity and clinical decision-making
  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment

There is also an opportunity to develop or pursue a special interest, with particular encouragement for candidates interested in exotics, although all interests are supported.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time or part-time considered
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays (9:00am 4:00pm)
  • No out-of-hours, Sundays, or bank holidays

A key highlight of this role is the protected daily wellbeing time, with 1pm 3pm allocated each day to:

  • Catch up on admin and clinical notes
  • Take a proper break or lunch
  • Step away from the clinic and recharge

This structure is designed to promote sustainable working and excellent worklife balance.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a BVSc or equivalent veterinary degree recognised in the UK
  • Be RCVS registered (or eligible)
  • Be confident with routine surgery, dentistry, and consultations
  • Demonstrate a proactive and positive approach to clinical work
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills

An interest in exotics would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Salary up to £60,000 (DOE, FTE)
  • 28 days holiday, rising to 33 days with service
