A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independent small animal practice in the Wolverhampton area. This role is ideal for a vet with 12 years' experience upwards who is looking to develop within a supportive, close-knit team environment.

This position has become available due to a team member relocating for personal reasons, offering the chance to step into an established caseload within a stable and friendly practice.

Key Duties

  • Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care for small animals
  • Conduct consultations and routine surgical procedures
  • Manage a varied caseload with dedicated consulting and surgical time
  • Work closely with an experienced nursing team and support staff
  • Provide sole charge cover on Saturdays (with support available remotely)
  • Maintain excellent standards of patient and client care

Working Pattern

  • 4 days per week (8:30am 6:30pm with 1-hour lunch break)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays (9:00am 5:00pm, with a scheduled lunch break)
  • No out-of-hours commitments (covered by a nearby hospital)
  • This structure provides a strong work-life balance with predictable hours and protected breaks.

Practice Facilities

  • Independent, single-site first-opinion practice
  • Well-equipped with modern diagnostic facilities including an in-house laboratory (IDEXX), digital radiography, ultrasound, video endoscopy, multiparameter monitoring equipment, and orthopaedic surgical kits (TTA and TPLO)
  • Strong team of veterinary surgeons, experienced nurses, and support staff
  • Excellent nurse utilisation and team collaboration
  • Recently converted premises with spacious staff facilities including kitchen, lounge, and rest areas

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

  • BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK
  • RCVS registration (or eligibility)
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in small animal practice
  • Confident with routine surgery and consultations
  • Comfortable with occasional sole charge (Saturdays)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
