Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Birmingham Area

Are you looking to join a well-established small animal practice where staff turnover is low and you'll be surrounded by an experienced, supportive team?

We are recruiting on behalf of a Practice Standards Scheme accredited and ISFM Silver Cat Friendly practice in the Birmingham area, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and collaborative team.

The practice has been established for around 10 years and has built a loyal client and patient base. You'll be joining a team that places a strong emphasis on support, development and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

The Role

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced GP Vet who enjoys all aspects of first-opinion small animal practice and is comfortable with occasional sole-charge work.

You'll be supported to develop your clinical interests, with CPD and certificate funding available, while working within a team that values collaboration and high standards of patient care.

The practice offers 20-minute consultations as standard, allowing sufficient time for thorough clinical assessments, client communication, reporting and administration.

Working Pattern

• Ideally 5 days per week, working 8.5-hour shifts
• One weekday off each week to accommodate the Saturday rota
• Rotating shifts of approximately 8:30am-5:00pm and 11:30am-8:00pm
• 1 in 3 Saturdays, 9:00am-6:00pm
• Share of Bank Holiday cover
• No Sundays
• No OOH or on-call
• Full-time preferred, but part-time hours can be considered
• Flexible approach to working patterns for the right candidate

The Team

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team consisting of:

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeons
• 4 RVNs
• SVN
• Practice administration and client care support
• Experienced colleagues who are committed to providing high standards of patient care
• The team has a collaborative approach and works closely together to ensure vets have the support and resources they need.

The practice is Practice Standards Scheme accredited and an ISFM Silver Cat Friendly practice, with a strong focus on providing high-quality clinical care.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Experienced in general small animal practice
• Confident with routine medical and surgical cases
• Good general surgical and medical skills
• Comfortable carrying out routine surgery
• Comfortable with occasional sole-charge work
• Strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues
• Able to work effectively as part of an experienced team
• Keen to develop clinical interests and continue professional development

Package and Benefits

• Salary of £45,000 - £65,000 DOE, based on full-time hours
