Veterinary Surgeon

Veterinary Surgeon, Swindon, Wiltshire

£45,000 - £65,000 DOE, Independent Practice, Flexible Working, No OOH

Prospect Health is recruiting for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded independent, multi-site practice in the Swindon area of Wiltshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Vet who would like plenty of variety within their working week, combining the community feel of smaller branch practices with access to the facilities, expertise and clinical support of a well-equipped veterinary hospital.

With flexible working options, excellent career development opportunities and no out-of-hours commitment, this role can be shaped around the right candidate.

The Role

You will work across a small number of practices within the local area, with a regular base practice alongside time spent at other branches and the group's veterinary hospital.

The variety of sites means your working week could include:

  • Managing your own medical and surgical caseload
  • Working within smaller community-based practices
  • Working alongside larger multi-Vet teams
  • Consulting and routine surgery
  • More involved case work-ups
  • Access to hospital facilities for complex cases
  • Opportunities to work alongside experienced and certificate-holding colleagues
  • This structure offers plenty of clinical variety while still allowing you to become part of the individual teams and communities you work with.

Flexible Working

The practice recognises that the right working pattern can look different for everyone and offers considerable flexibility.

Options can include:

  • Full-time or part-time hours
  • A four-day working week
  • Flexible working patterns
  • A varied multi-site role
  • No out-of-hours requirement
  • The practice has its own dedicated out-of-hours team, allowing continuity of patient care overnight without adding OOH duties to your rota.

Clinical Support & Facilities

One of the major advantages of this role is having access to the support and facilities of a veterinary hospital while retaining the variety of branch practice.

You will be able to work alongside colleagues with additional qualifications and interests in areas including:

  • Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • Diagnostic imaging

The wider practice also offers access to advanced diagnostic facilities, including CT, giving you excellent scope to investigate cases further and continue developing clinically.

About You

We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with some previous small animal experience who enjoys variety and would value the flexibility of working across different clinical environments.

You will ideally:
  • Be confident with a general small animal caseload
  • Enjoy both consulting and clinical case management
  • Have strong communication and client-care skills
  • Be comfortable working independently when required
  • Enjoy collaborating with larger clinical teams
  • Have a commitment to high clinical standards
  • Be keen to continue developing your skills and career
  • Most importantly, the practice is looking for someone who enjoys being part of a supportive team and wants to build lasting relationships with both colleagues and clients.

Career Development

Professional development is actively encouraged, with structured support available to help you progress your career.

Whether you want to deepen your general practice skills, pursue a particular clinical interest or work towards further qualifications, you'll have access to experienced colleagues, hospital facilities and excellent CPD support.

Salary & Benefits

  • £45,000 - £65,000 salary depending on experience
  • Full-time or part-time opportunities
  • Four-day week available
  • No out-of-hours
  • 5 weeks' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Excellent CPD support
  • RCVS membership paid
  • VDS membership paid
  • Private healthcare
  • Workplace pension
  • Staff discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Attendance bonus
  • Structured career development
  • Access to advanced hospital facilities and certificate holders
